Rigging angles on our 120-ton jobsite in Houston, night and day difference

I watched a senior operator set up a pick last week and compared it to how I was doing it back in March at the same site. He took 15 minutes to rework the sling angles based on the load chart, and the crane barely grunted where mine would have strained. Turns out I was running a 60 degree angle instead of the recommended 75, which was costing me about 40% of the safe working load. Has anyone else found that small rigging tweaks made a bigger difference than you'd expect on the actual lift?
