Update: I used to think grease was grease until a foreman showed me the spec sheet on a Liebherr LTM 1050 last week
It said the wrong grease could knock 20% off the bearing life and looking at the $12,000 repair bill from the last guy who used cheap stuff convinced me right there. Anyone else ever get burned by not reading the manual close enough?

Exactly, "textbook scare tactics" is spot on. I had a dealer pull that same line on me last year and the bearings lasted just as long as the OEM ones. Felt like they were just trying to upsell me on a more expensive brand.
