Visited a job site in Houston and saw a guy running a Liebherr without any hand signals
I'm not saying you need the old school hand signals but at least have a spotter who knows what he's doing. Is that too much to ask?

That's a good point about hand signals, but honestly even having a spotter who's not paying attention is almost as bad. I've seen guys on their phones while the operator is trying to move a load, and that's how things go wrong fast. Bottom line is the spotter needs to be locked in and using clear communication, whatever method works for your crew.

Wearing gloves that make hand signals hard to see is just as bad as bad communication.
