Watched a site go from muddy chaos to smooth pours in 6 weeks flat
I was on a high rise job in Austin back in March where the ground was so soft our outriggers kept sinking into mud pits every morning. After the GC finally brought in a gravel crew and a roller compactor, the whole pad was solid by mid-April and we started setting steel without a single float issue. Anyone else had a site turnaround that fast just from better ground prep?

Had a similar thing happen on a project outside Phoenix. They spent a full week recompacting the subgrade and it completely stopped our leveling headaches.

And that right there is the lesson a lot of builders never learn... they skip that step and end up chasing problems forever. @sandragonzalez nailed it that spending the extra week upfront saves way more time than trying to fix it later. Recompacting the subgrade really is the unsung hero of flat concrete.
