Watched an old hand set up a luffing jib in 20 minutes flat

I spent two hours fumbling with mine last week on a job in Charlotte but this guy from a different crew just walked over and showed me a trick with the tagline that saved the whole setup. Anyone else pick up little shortcuts from watching the older guys work?

That "trick with the tagline" is exactly the kind of thing you only pick up from watching somebody who's been doing it forever. I had a similar moment watching an old timer set a jib in a tight spot last year - he used the tagline to keep the load from swinging while barely moving his feet. It's those little details that make all the difference. The manuals and training videos never show stuff like that, just the basic step-by-step. You really gotta watch the old hands work to learn the shortcuts that save you hours.

Right on @owens.willow. That tagline trick saves your back more than any manual ever will.
