Dropped $85 on a "pro" writing app and came crawling back to Google Docs in 3 days

I bought Scrivener thinking it would fix all my organizational issues for that novel I keep starting. The split-screen was nice but I spent more time reading tutorials than actually writing. By day 3 I was back in Docs because it just works without making me think about it. Has anyone else bought expensive software and immediately regretted it?

Take a step back and realize Scrivener isn't meant for everyone, especially if you just want to write without learning a whole new system. Lots of people swear by it for big projects with research and notes, but if your process is simple, spending that much cash is overkill. You probably saved yourself a headache by going back to what actually works for you.
