Found a writing trick in an old notebook from 3 years ago
Last week I dug out a beat-up notebook from 2019 with random prompts I never finished, and one line about a guy who fixes roofs in a town where it never rains gave me a whole story in 20 minutes, has anyone else mined old ideas that felt dead at the time?

Get where you're coming from on this. I've got a folder on my laptop called "stuff that sucked" and I opened it up last year just to clear space, ended up writing 4,000 words off some dumb line about a vending machine that only sells expired snacks. The thing I couldn't finish at 25 suddenly made sense at 28 because I'd lived a little more, you know? Old ideas aren't dead, they're just waiting for you to catch up to them. That roof guy in a rainless town is a great hook too, honestly.
