Hit 1,000 followers on my writing blog and it broke my brain a little

I been sharing short horror prompts for like 8 months with zero expectations, then last week I randomly checked and saw 1,000 exactly. It's just a number but it made me second guess every dumb prompt I've posted instead of feeling proud. Does anyone else get that weird impostor spike when they hit a milestone?

Oh "it broke my brain a little" - I felt that in my soul. I once got 500 likes on a tweet where I called a microwave "the devil's easy bake oven" and spent the next three days convinced everyone was about to realize I'm a fraud who just yells about appliances. The impostor spike is real, especially when you're just vibing with your prompts and suddenly there's an audience attached to it.

the devil's easy bake oven" is still one of the best things I've ever heard, but you're wrong about one thing. You're not a fraud who yells about appliances. You're a genius who happens to yell about appliances, there's a difference. That impostor spike after a good hit is brutal though. I had a tweet about how toaster ovens are just "cupboard-sized lies" blow up once, and I spent a week checking my mentions like I was waiting for the appliance police to show up. It's like your brain can't handle the positive attention so it invents a crime you committed.
