Hot take: The 3-act structure is holding too many prompts back

Everyone on here swears by beginning, middle, and end for every prompt. I thought that was the only way to write, but after 6 months of running a prompt challenge in Asheville, prompts with no clear ending got way more creative replies. People kept asking what happens next, and that sparked real discussions. The ones with neat endings just got upvotes and silence. Isn't the point of a prompt to leave something open, not wrap it in a bow? Has anyone else found that breaking the rules on structure gets better stories? I'm not saying ditch it entirely, but maybe treat it as a starting point, not a law.
