My barber mentioned he writes a short story about every customer in his head
It made me realize that the best writing prompts are just the tiny, real details you notice about people, like the faded tattoo on someone's wrist or how they always order the same coffee.

He actually does both. My friend Mark told me story about his kid describing a full space battle with laser swords one night, but last week it was just a really detailed story about a squirrel finding the perfect acorn. The quiet ones are weirdly sweet.
