My villain's whole backstory got wrecked by one prompt I almost skipped
I run a prompt jar for my writing group every Sunday, and two weeks ago I pulled one I almost threw back in: write a villain origin using only things found in a gas station. I groaned and did it anyway, and by the third sentence my big bad had a whole history built around a busted slushie machine and a lighter with someone else's initials scratched into it. I'd been stuck on his motivation for 4 months, and the dumb constraint cracked it faster than any character worksheet ever did. Now I keep a second jar just for stuff I think is too weird to work. What's the strangest prompt constraint that actually paid off for you?
