The $45 writing prompt deck that actually pulled me out of a slump

I bought those prompt cards from a local bookstore in Austin about 3 months ago, figured they'd be a gimmick. Last week I hit a wall on every story idea, so I grabbed one out of desperation. It said 'rewrite a fairy tale from the villain's therapist's perspective' and I wrote the weirdest, best 2,000 words I've done all year. Before that I thought prompts were for beginners or people who couldn't think up their own plots, but this one forced me into a corner I'd never have tried on my own. Anyone else found a single prompt worth the price of admission, or am I just getting lazy in old age?

That therapist prompt is a killer one lol. Villain therapy stories are so underrated because they force you to build a whole new moral system for a character you thought you already knew. I found a similar gem in a deck once that said to write a love letter from the setting to the protagonist, and it blew my mind. Coming up with plots has never been my problem, but these cards break the usual ruts in my brain that my own ideas just keep circling. The trick is they make you go sideways instead of forward, which is exactly what a slump needs. Not lazy, just stuck in a loop, and a good prompt is like a crowbar for that cage.
