Found out my local grocery store marks up items by 40% for the convenience aisle

I was digging through receipts last week and noticed the same brand of ibuprofen was $4.50 in the pharmacy section but $6.29 in the front convenience rack by the registers. No joke, same size bottle, same company, just different shelf. Has anyone else caught their store doing this kind of pricing trick?

My local Target does the same thing with their travel size toothpastes. The little tube by the checkout is $1.99 but the same brand in the oral care aisle is $1.29. It's basically a tax on being in a hurry.

Honestly, thats wild. @angela_carter hit the nail on the head - its just a tax on people in a rush. I checked the same thing with Gatorade at my store, the single bottles by the register are like 50 cents more than the 4-pack in the sports drink aisle. Theyre banking on you not doing the math while your kid is screaming for candy. Ngl, it makes me feel like a genius for walking the extra 20 feet to the back.
