Hit 50 returns at a big box store in one year and got flagged as a problem customer

I didn't think anything of it until I tried to return a defective drill battery and the manager came out looking at me like I was running a scam... I've been a contractor for 12 years so I buy a lot of stuff and sometimes tools just break. The lady behind the counter told me I hit some secret limit on returns in their system and now I have to get manager approval for anything. I asked her what the number was and she said 50 in 12 months which seems like nothing when you're buying thousands of dollars of gear every month for jobs. Now I feel like I'm being watched every time I walk in there. Has anyone else gotten stuck in some weird store tracking system for just buying too much stuff?
