Learned a hack at the DMV that saved me 3 hours last Tuesday

I was stuck at the DMV in Austin for like 2 hours and noticed this older guy walked right past the main line to a side counter. Turns out they have a separate window for simple renewals and address changes that nobody knows about. The lady there told me it's always faster because most people don't realize it exists. Has anyone else found hidden shortcuts at government offices?

Oh man, I tried this at the San Antonio DMV and the lady at the secret window acted like I was asking her to break some kind of sacred oath! She literally sighed and pointed to a sign that said "Renewals Only" in font so small you'd need a microscope. By the time I found it, a whole new line had formed behind me from people who heard me ask about it. So now I either look like a line-cutting villain or a DMV whisperer. No in-between.

Wait, hold on. I actually see it the opposite way. That lady at the secretary desk was probably just doing her job and didn't want to deal with a crowd forming. Most DMV workers get yelled at all day for things that aren't their fault. If she pointed to the sign, she was being more helpful than you think. The real problem is that every DMV hides its useful info in the worst possible places. So yeah, you might look like a line cutter now, but next time you'll be the person walking past everyone else with zero guilt. That's a win in my book.
