My brand new smart doorbell from a big box store started playing polka music at 3 AM and the support guy just said 'interesting audio choice'.
After the third night of this happening in Phoenix, I called customer service and the agent, after a very long pause, asked if I'd checked for nearby accordion festivals.

Connect it to the reality that smart home stuff is basically just haunted now. My vacuum once started a midnight humming that sounded exactly like a dying fax machine. Called support, they said "check for firmware updates." Bro, the firmware updated fine, but the poltergeist in my smart home needs an exorcism, not a patch. Everything's rigged to play random audio at weird hours like it's some kind of silent rave for appliances. Makes you wonder if the whole "smart" thing is just a way to make your house a DJ for stuff you never asked for.

@amy_sanchez that polka doorbell story killed me lmao. I had a similar thing happen with my thermostat in July - it started playing what I swear was bagpipe music at 2am and the support guy asked if I had any Scottish neighbors.
