My local hardware store gave me a choice: wait two weeks for a special order or take a different brand right now.
I needed a specific Milwaukee drill bit for a job that weekend. The guy at Ace Hardware told me they could order it, but it would take 10 days, or I could buy a DeWalt one they had in stock for the same price. I took the DeWalt, and it worked fine, but I'm still a Milwaukee guy. Has anyone else had a store offer you a swap like that when they were out of your usual brand?

Happens all the time now. Feels like every store just wants to move what's on the shelf, brand loyalty be damned.

Notice it with streaming services too, they swap shows without warning. Makes you feel like you don't really own anything anymore, just rent it until they change their mind. The whole idea of picking a favorite and sticking with it is just gone.

Gotta admit, I used to think brand loyalty was overrated. Like, who cares if a store changes things up, right? But then I tried to buy the same deodorant I'd used for a decade and it was gone, replaced by three new scents and a "new formula" that gave me a rash. That's when it hit me - these companies don't care about keeping things consistent, they just want to sell whatever's trending this month. Streaming's the same deal, you get attached to a show and poof, it's off to some other platform or gone completely. It makes you feel like you're just borrowing everything, not actually owning a damn thing. Kinda depressing when you think about it.
