Rant: Had to pick between self-checkout and a real cashier at Target last week
I chose the real cashier because I had a bunch of coupons and didn't want to mess up scanning them myself... but then she had to call a manager twice for price checks and it took like 15 minutes. Has anyone else found that self-checkout is actually faster now even with the hassle?

Last time I used self-checkout the machine called me a thief for putting my bag in the bagging area wrong.

My local grocery store has those self-checkout machines that yell at you in this super creepy robot voice. One time I was buying a single apple and a pack of gum and the thing locked up on me, claimed I was "attempting to leave without paying." The teenaged attendant came over and looked at me like I was trying to pull a fast one. I just stood there holding my apple while the machine kept beeping like a smoke detector. I swear those things are programmed to make you feel guilty.
