Realized I was microwaving leftovers wrong this whole time - what's your basic cooking habit that changed?

So I'm 28 and just figured out you're supposed to put a damp paper towel over your food in the microwave to keep it from drying out. My coworker saw me heating up some pizza and was like "dude, do you want it to taste like cardboard?" and showed me the trick. It actually works way better. What's a simple thing you were doing wrong forever until someone clued you in?

Paper towels in the microwave also works great for reheating any bread or rolls without them turning into rocks.

Wait, so you're telling me a damp paper towel actually keeps them from getting that weird rubbery texture? I've been throwing out day-old bagels because I couldn't figure out how to save them. That's honestly a game changer for my lazy Sunday mornings.
