Stop falling for the "free warranty extension" phone calls

I got a call last Tuesday from someone saying my appliance warranty was about to expire. They had my name, my address, even the model of my fridge. Said I needed to pay $299 to extend it. I almost did it but called the store I bought it from first. Turns out it was a scam. The store told me they never sell warranties over the phone like that. Three of my neighbors got the same call this week. Has anyone else had these people call them with your actual purchase details?

Everything is a subscription or scam now, nothing's just sold anymore.

Geez, that's scary they had the model of your fridge and everything. Did the store say how these scammers might have gotten that specific info from them?
