The appliance store cashier who fixed my fridge over the phone

Last winter my refrigerator started making this grinding noise, so I called the store where I bought it five years ago and a guy named Mike walked me through cleaning the condenser coils in ten minutes. Has anyone else had a stranger save them a service call fee by just being nice on the phone?

That cashier probably just wanted to get you off the phone honestly.

Get you off the phone" is exactly right but maybe not for the reason you're thinking... maybe the cashier noticed the customer was being rude and just wanted to avoid a scene. Sometimes people who work retail have to use that kind of quick ending as a way to protect themselves, not just finish the sale. It's a survival move in a job where you never know who's going to blow up at you.
