The freezer repair guy who showed up 40 minutes early still wins my loyalty

Last month our walk-in freezer at the shop started making a grinding noise around 8 AM. I called the repair place we always use, and they said someone would come between noon and 4. At 11:20 I'm out back loading my truck and this guy pulls up, introduces himself, and says he was in the neighborhood so he figured he'd start early. He had the part with him, fixed it in under an hour, and charged me the exact quote over the phone. I've dealt with plenty of companies that show up late or try to upsell you on things you don't need, so this was a pleasant surprise. It got me thinking about how much a simple thing like respecting someone's time does for customer loyalty. I've already told two other business owners in Fort Collins about him. Has anyone else had a service person show up early and actually save the day?

Being early and staying honest is a combo most companies skip.
