The time a Target employee told me to buy the floor model blender

I was at Target in Denver looking at blenders and this worker walks up and says 'honestly, just get the floor model, it's half off and still works fine.' So I grabbed it for $35 instead of $70. Got it home, plugged it in, and the lid flew off on the first smoothie attempt. Took it back and they gave me a brand new one anyway, so I guess her advice was half right. Has anyone else taken a random employee's shortcut advice and had it backfire?

So did the employee give you the side-eye when you walked back in with the lid in your hand? That's classic Target employee trickery right there. They get a commission on getting rid of floor models, I swear. You basically paid $35 for a used blender and a free trip back to the store. At least you ended up with a working one. Maybe next time just buy the display TV and hope the same thing happens.

Wait, do Target employees actually get commissions on floor models or is that just a running joke? I've always kinda wondered if they're trying to dump those or if it's just bad luck.
