Went from dreading calls with Comcast to actually getting help after finding the right department
Honestly, I spent like 2 years fighting with their general support line about my internet dropping every afternoon. They'd run the same reset script and nothing changed. Then last month I got transferred to the local tech team by accident and the guy literally said 'oh yeah, your node is overloaded, we are adding bandwidth next week.' Fixed in 3 days after years of frustration. Has anyone else found a backdoor number or department that actually knows what they're doing?

Oh man, I feel your pain. The trick I found is calling their "business" line even if you're residential - the business support people actually have to fix stuff same-day. Used that for months after a similar node overload situation. Also, if you can get a tech truck roll, tip the guy $20. Seriously, the field techs will bend over backward for you and give you their personal cell number. I had one literally replace all the wiring from the pole to my house for free because he hated the main office.

That whole thing about field techs being more helpful than the office staff taps into something bigger I notice everywhere. Seems like the people actually doing the work have way more freedom to solve problems than the ones stuck in some building following scripts. Had a similar thing with a plumber once where the dispatcher quoted me three times the price for a simple fix, but the guy who showed up just did it for the cost of the pipe and a handshake because he said the office was overcharging everyone. Same with a furniture delivery I dealt with last year - the warehouse guys told me the website always oversells stock they don't actually have. Ends up the system is designed to make you jump through hoops, but the folks on the ground just want to get things done without the nonsense.
