Went to return a $35 HDMI cable at the big box store in Tulsa last month and got a surprise
Last month I bought an HDMI cable at a big box store in Tulsa for $35 because I was in a hurry and did not feel like ordering one online. Got home, realized I grabbed the wrong length, went back the next day with the receipt and the unopened cable. The kid at the returns desk scanned it and his face just dropped. He said the system showed it as a final sale item and there was nothing he could do. I asked to see a manager. Twenty minutes later a guy comes out, looks at the cable, looks at me, and says the same exact thing. I pointed at the shelf where I grabbed it, no final sale sign anywhere. He just shrugged. I asked what my options were and he says and I quote, I can offer you store credit minus a 20 percent restocking fee. For a cable. That I bought yesterday. Has anyone actually won one of these fights or do you just eat the $35 and start buying everything online like a normal person?
