Am I the only one who thinks password managers are overkill for normal people?
I keep seeing the same tip everywhere, use a password manager, and I finally tried one last week after my brother kept bugging me about it. I picked a free one and spent 3 evenings just moving logins over, then locked myself out of my own email for 4 days since I forgot the master password I set at 2am. I had to call my bank in Raleigh and sit on hold for 45 minutes just to reset one thing. Meanwhile my 72 year old dad has a paper notebook in his desk drawer and he has never been hacked once. I get that reuse is bad, but honestly for most folks a notebook and writing down something like bluefish7porch does the same job without the lockout panic. Maybe it is just me but the cure feels worse than the cold. Does anyone actually enjoy these things or do we all just repeat the tip so we sound smart?
Man, the 4 day email lockout alone would've made me toss the whole thing in the trash... that 2am master password decision always comes back to bite you. My dad does the same notebook thing and honestly it's never failed him either.
