I finally pointed out the danger of saving passwords on public PCs

At the community center, a neighbor was about to save his email password on a shared computer. I quickly mentioned that it's like leaving your house key in the door for anyone to use. What's a gentle way to alert people to such risks?

Wait, they were going to save an email password? That's the worst one, it's the key to everything else. How do people not see that? A library computer could have all sorts of stuff tracking it. You tell them about keyloggers and they just stare at you.

Hey @the_charles, you're totally right about email passwords being a huge risk! But sometimes the problem is that public computers don't have good virus protection, not just keyloggers. People might save passwords because they think the library's network is safe, which it often isn't. We really need more basic computer safety taught early on, like in high school. It's annoying when folks don't listen, but many just haven't learned this stuff yet. Keeping our advice friendly and clear helps everyone stay safer online!

Yeah I just tell people to imagine someone reading all their emails later. That visual usually clicks better than just saying "it's risky." You're right @cora_lee about keeping advice clear.
