I think the push for everyone to use a password manager is a bit overblown

A few years back, my brother had his master password for a big-name manager stolen in a phishing attack. That one breach gave a thief the keys to his whole digital life, from his bank to his email. It took him nearly six months to untangle the mess and get his accounts back. I still use strong, unique passwords, but I keep them written down in a safe at home. Does anyone else feel like a single point of failure is too big a risk?

Man, that story about your brother's master password is terrifying. The idea of one phishing email unlocking everything is exactly what worries me. I keep picturing someone getting into my email and then just hitting "reset password" on every other site. Your safe at home method sounds way less stressful, honestly.

Physical safes can fail too, so maybe split your backup methods.
