My neighbor's router went from a total mess to basically locked down in a weekend
I mean, I saw his network name go from 'Linksys' to something random, and he turned off WPS after I told him how easy it is to crack. He said he watched a 20-minute video from a guy named John Hammond on YouTube about basic router security. It's crazy how a tiny bit of info can make that big a difference. Has anyone else had to basically give a friend a security intervention?

Honestly used to think most people just didn't care about this stuff. Figured if they left the default password, they were a lost cause. Seeing a neighbor actually listen and make changes is pretty wild. That John Hammond guy breaks it down so even my non-techy friends get it. A single video can flip a switch for someone. Makes you realize a lot of folks just never had it explained in plain English.

Yeah, it's crazy how many people just need that one clear explanation. @noah914, you're right, a lot of folks aren't being lazy, they just hit a wall of confusing tech talk. I wonder if the real problem is that the people who build this stuff forget what it's like to not know it. Once someone shows you the "why" in a way that makes sense, changing a password or updating software just clicks.

Spot on, and @noah914 proves it works.
