Actually it's not really about betrayal, it's more about the code being outdated or the devs just dropping support over time. The nice thing about manual QR codes is you can always save the seed phrase and regenerate them yourself if you know what you're doing. Plus some wallets let you import the individual keys even if the app stops working. So it's not exactly betrayal, just a reminder to keep your backup somewhere safe!
