Went from getting phished twice a month to zero in 6 months

Started using a password manager and enabling 2FA on everything. Night and day difference. The scammers used to get me with fake login pages. Now I just check the URL before typing anything. Has anyone else noticed a huge drop in spam after switching to an authenticator app over SMS codes?

Authenticator apps are way better than SMS since sim swapping is still way too easy for scammers to pull off. Password managers with auto-fill also kill fake login pages because they won't match the URL and won't autofill your credentials. Checking the URL manually became second nature for me after getting burned on a fake Outlook page.

Honestly, I used to think SMS codes were fine enough and didn't see the big deal about switching. Then my buddy's phone number got hijacked last year and they drained his bank account before he even knew what happened. That woke me up real fast. Now I use an authenticator app for everything that supports it and it's just as easy but way more secure. And you're right about the password manager thing too - I caught a fake Google login page last month because my manager didn't pop up with my password. Would've typed it in myself if I was still doing it the old way.
