Why I stopped using password managers after a close call

Everyone keeps pushing password managers like they're bulletproof, but last month my brother had his entire vault copied because he clicked a bad link in a fake email from "LastPass support." These tools create a single point of failure, and once someone gets in they have every key to every door you own. I switched back to memorizing 5 strong passwords for my important accounts and write my bank logins on a paper card in my wallet. Does anyone else think the risks of password managers outweigh the convenience for regular people?

i mean no disrespect but your brother didn't get his vault copied because of the password manager, he got it copied because he clicked a phishing link and put his info in. that could happen with any login, even your bank website. like if i put my paper card info into a fake bank site it's the same problem.

Think about this though - a password manager puts all your eggs in one basket. If you get phished for your bank login, you lose access to one account. If you get phished for your password manager master password, the attacker gets every single account you have. That's a way bigger risk than using separate passwords stored in your brain or written down somewhere safe. The convenience tradeoff might not be worth it when you consider how much damage one mistake can cause.
