Found a simple trick for getting my kids to actually listen the first time
I started whispering instead of raising my voice last week, and now they lean in to hear me instead of tuning me out - has anyone else tried this approach with their family?

I read somewhere that whispering forces kids to stop and focus because it breaks their usual pattern of being yelled at. My neighbor tried it with her three year old and said it worked better than any discipline chart she'd ever used. It's probably because they actually have to work to hear you instead of just tuning out the noise.
