Heard my neighbor tell his kid 'mistakes mean you tried' and it hit me hard

I was out in the garage last Saturday trying to fix this old lawnmower that keeps dying on me. His kid was out there crying because he dropped a whole box of nails and his dad just said that line real calm. Made me think about how I beat myself up over small stuff like ordering the wrong part or mixing up a measurement. I've been trying that same attitude this week when I mess up on projects. Has anyone else had a random comment from a stranger or neighbor just stick with you like that?

That line about mistakes stings in the best way. I still remember a stranger telling me the same thing years ago.
