Just realized I used to spend hours making mixtapes on cassettes for road trips
Now I just hand my kid my phone and tell them to pick something on Spotify, which is way easier but somehow feels less special, anyone else miss the whole ritual of hitting record at the exact right second?

C'mon, it's really not that deep. You're still picking the songs just like before, the only difference is you don't have to babysit a cassette deck for three hours. I'd rather spend that extra time actually listening to music with my kid instead of fighting with a tape that might eat itself halfway through the drive.

My cousin spent an entire weekend recording a mix tape for a road trip back in 2010 and the tape got chewed up by the deck twenty minutes in. I remember how mad he was, all that time wasted just to have the music cut out halfway through a Fleetwood Mac song. Stuff like that makes me really appreciate just hitting play on a playlist and actually enjoying the drive.
