Spent 6 hours fixing a leaky faucet I thought would take 20 minutes
I had this old Price Pfister kitchen faucet from the 90s that started dripping. Figured it was just a worn washer, pop the handle off, swap it, done. Six hours later, after stripping a screw head and having to drill it out, I finally got it working. Is it just me or do these 'simple' home repairs always turn into all day projects? Anyone else have a job that seemed quick but ate up your whole Saturday?

My dad had the exact same thing with a ceiling fan last summer - said it would take an hour and it turned into a whole weekend with us rewiring half the living room. It's wild how the universe just decides every "quick fix" is really a test of your patience lol.

Every quick fix is really a test of your patience" - that line got me thinking. What if it's not just about bad luck but actually about how our brains trick us into underestimating things? Like, I remember reading somewhere that when we think something will take an hour, we're really just guessing based on the best case scenario without factoring in all the hidden stuff like old wiring or stripped screws. It's like our brains have this built-in optimism bias that conveniently ignores all the potential nightmares. Maybe the universe isn't testing us - maybe we're just really bad at predicting how long things take because we don't want to admit the truth.
