That old guy at the hardware store fixed my shed roof problem in 2 minutes
I was at Ace Hardware last Saturday trying to figure out why my shed roof kept leaking near the ridge line. An older guy in the roofing aisle overheard me mumbling and asked what kind of nails I was using. I said 1.25 inch roofing nails and he just shook his head and said try 1.75 inch ring shank nails instead because the shorter ones don't grip the plywood right after a few seasons. I swapped them out and after the last rain I checked and the leak was gone. Has anyone else had a random stranger give them advice that actually worked way better than anything they tried on their own?
