The library receipt that made me question my whole reading habit
Last week I checked out six books from the local branch, and the receipt at the bottom listed my lifetime checkouts: 847. I've been going to that library for about 9 years, so that's almost 8 books a month, but I couldn't remember a single title from last year. It got me thinking about how much I actually absorb versus just pass through, and whether quantity is just a way to feel productive. Anyone else ever get a number pulled out of nowhere that made you rethink a hobby you thought you had figured out?
