Tried telling my kid a dad joke at dinner and got a completely straight face
Last Tuesday I pulled out my best one: "I'm reading a book on anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down." My 10 year old just stared at me, no reaction, and asked for more mashed potatoes. I learned that kids hit an age where your jokes stop being funny to them and you just have to accept the silence.

Did you try the groan louder than him to reclaim the moment?

My kid did the exact same thing with my "what do you call a fake noodle? an impasta" joke. Just a blank stare and then a very serious request for the ketchup. It stings a little bit, you know? But I figure it's just their way of saying they're too cool for us now, at least for a few years.
