Debating whether to keep my old couch or finally get a new one
I've had this tan sectional from IKEA since 2019 and it's still fine, but the cushions are getting a bit flat. My sister in Austin just got a new one and she keeps telling me I'm overdue for an upgrade. Should I just replace it or try to fluff these cushions for another year?

I read somewhere that IKEA's foam cushions usually go flat after about 3-4 years. Have you tried flipping them over or adding a mattress topper underneath? That's basically what I did with my old couch and it bought me another year easy.

Ha, interesting trick with the mattress topper. But I gotta ask, did you actually flip the cushions on a regular schedule, or was it more of a one-time thing? In my experience, these foam cores break down unevenly no matter what you do. Flipping them just delays the inevitable sagging in the middle where you sit. Curious if you noticed a difference in the support after a few months of topper use, or if it felt more like a temporary band-aid. I tried something similar on a cheap futon once and the topper just slid around constantly. That drove me nuts. So I'm wondering if the topper trick works better on a structured couch frame versus something with a loose seat.
