I was convinced my morning 5-mile run was the only way to start the day, but my smartwatch showed my heart rate was way too high for 3 months straight.

My doctor basically told me I was stressing my body out every single morning instead of helping it. He said 'You're treating a workout like a punishment, not a recovery.' I switched to a 2-mile walk with some light stretching, and I feel ten times better by 9 AM. Has anyone else had a fitness routine they loved that was actually working against them?

Three months of a crazy high heart rate is a major red flag. Tarak79 is right about pushing too hard, but that's next level.

Yeah, it's crazy how we can get stuck on pushing harder... when sometimes the best thing is just to slow down and listen to what our body needs.

Took me years to figure that out.
