I was making my morning coffee wrong for a year until I saw a tiny bubble
I've been using a French press every day and always thought the coffee tasted a bit bitter. This morning, I watched the water pour in and saw a single bubble rise from the grounds right away. I looked it up and realized you're supposed to let the coffee 'bloom' for 30 seconds with just a little hot water first, not dump it all in at once. I tried it today and the flavor was totally different, way smoother. Has anyone else had a simple kitchen habit they were doing wrong for ages?

That bloom step is key, but 30 seconds might be a bit short. I let mine go for 45 seconds to a full minute, especially with fresher beans that release more gas. It makes a huge difference in getting rid of that sour or bitter edge.

Release more gas" is sending me. My coffee is not a soda can. But yeah, a longer bloom does fix a lot of problems.
