My buddy's parking rule saved me $80 in downtown Denver
I used to just pull into the first lot I saw and pay whatever they asked. My friend who drives for Uber told me to always walk one block away from the main street and check the side lots. Last Saturday I did that and found a spot for $12 instead of the $20 place right by the arena. Then after the game I followed his other tip and paid $8 to park two blocks north instead of sitting in the exit line for 20 minutes. Has anyone else found weird tricks like that for event parking near their city?

Dang that's actually a solid tip! I read somewhere that parking apps like SpotHero or ParkWhiz show you the hidden lots people don't know about, but the real trick is that prices drop like crazy 30 minutes before the event starts. Some guys on a local subreddit were saying you can also park at the light rail station and ride in for like $3 total, way cheaper than anything downtown. I tried that once in Phoenix and walked like 10 minutes but saved almost $40, totally worth it.
