Should I call my landlord about the slow drain or just keep using Drano?

Tbh I'm stuck in my apartment in Chicago and the kitchen sink has been draining slower for like 3 weeks now. I already poured a whole bottle of Drano down there last Tuesday and it helped for maybe 2 days. Now it's backing up again when I run the garbage disposal. My buddy says just call the super but I don't want to deal with the hassle. Has anyone else had luck with a plunger on a kitchen sink or is it time to just make the call?

Man, just call the super already. I mean, I get not wanting to deal with the hassle, but you're gonna have a bigger mess on your hands if you keep dumping chemicals down there. The Drano only worked for a couple days, so that tells me the blockage is probably not just grease or hair, maybe something solid or further down the pipe. Using a plunger on a kitchen sink can work if you block off the overflow hole, but with a garbage disposal in the mix, it's tricky and might not do much. And if the pipes are old like in a lot of Chicago apartments, the chemicals could actually eat through them over time, which is way more expensive to fix. Just bite the bullet and call them, it's their job to deal with this stuff.

Yeah, totally feeling this. I had a neighbor try the Drano trick for like a week straight and ended up with a pipe that basically dissolved from the inside. The super came and had to cut out a whole section of the wall. That bill was not fun. Just call them, it's honestly the least annoying option in the long run.
