Shoutout to the guy who fixed my toilet with a coat hanger at 2am
I was at a friend's place in Portland last weekend and their toilet started overflowing in the middle of the night. Water was creeping toward the hallway and I had no idea what to do. My buddy wakes up, grabs an old wire coat hanger, bends it into a hook, and fishes out a kid's toy car that was stuck in the pipe. It worked in like 2 minutes and saved us from calling a plumber for $150. Has anyone else had a random household item save the day like that?

Honestly I used to think coat hangers were just for dry cleaning but that story totally changed my mind about keeping a few around the house.
