Spilled a whole pot of chili on my white carpet right before guests showed up

I was pulling it off the stove at my apartment in Portland and the handle just snapped clean off, sending beans and meat everywhere. I spent 20 minutes scrubbing with dish soap and baking soda while pretending everything was fine, should I just buy a new rug or keep trying to fix this stain?

Oh, that's just awful. It's funny how those little broken handles and stained carpets seem to happen exactly when you have people coming over, like the universe has a way of testing our patience at the worst possible moment. I'd say get a new rug and maybe keep the old one for the garage or a rental move, because some stains just win no matter how much elbow grease you put in.

Noticing that timing thing you pointed out @casey843, it's like the universe has a weird sense of humor. Seems like whenever you're stretched thin, life throws another little annoyance at you just to see if you'll snap.
