Vent: Locked my keys in the car because of a grocery bag

Standing in a Kroger lot in Austin, I set my bag on the passenger seat and shut the door. The car auto-locked after 30 seconds, keys still in the ignition. I called my spouse, who was 40 minutes out, and we waited by the cart return while a locksmith quoted $180. He came in 25 minutes with a wedge and a wire, popped it in 4 seconds. Now I keep a spare key in a magnetic box under the bumper, but should I just switch to a keypad entry instead? Has anyone else had the auto-lock panic moment?

That auto-lock after 30 seconds is a pain. I've popped plenty of those doors myself, but not my own. The magnetic box works until it falls off or gets rusty. I'd go with the keypad, it's a hundred bucks and you never deal with this again. Just make sure you test the battery in it every few months, dead keypad is worse than a locked door.
