Vent: my morning coffee scale lied to me for 6 months

I used to just eyeball my grounds and water, thought I was fine. Then I got a $25 scale off Amazon and found out my pour was off by 8 grams every single day, my brews were always bitter and weak. Switched to weighing everything in grams, including the beans, and now my cup tastes like the one I had at a shop in Portland last fall. Anyone else dealt with trusting a cheap scale way longer than they should have?
