Watching a new guy at the warehouse try to lift a pallet solo made me think about a common mistake.

He was going for a 200 pound load without checking the weight distribution first, which is how my cousin hurt his back in Toledo last year. I always mark the heavy side with chalk now before even touching the lift. Do you think a quick visual check is enough, or should there be a written rule for this?

That chalk trick is a lifesaver for sure. We had a guy strain his shoulder on an uneven load last quarter, so now our team does a quick tap test on the corners first. Makes a huge difference in spotting a bad stack before you even bend your knees.

My old foreman used to say a shaky pallet is a silent alarm for trouble.
