Finally paid off that dumb HVAC subscription I didn't need

Signed up for a $50 monthly maintenance plan for my commercial AC unit last year. Never used it once. Cancelled today after realizing I wasted $600 total. Anyone else get tricked into these service contracts?

Yeah its wild how these companies make it sound like you're being irresponsible if you dont sign up. Had the same thing with a fridge warranty - 30 bucks a month for three years before i realized i couldve just saved that cash and bought a new one if it broke. Best thing i ever did was start a separate little savings account just for appliance repairs. Dropped 50 in there every month after cancelling the plan. Six months later when my water heater actually did go out, had more than enough to cover the fix. Way cheaper than paying some company to maybe fix something that probably wont break anyway.

Man, that stings. I once signed up for a whole-home warranty thing for like $40 a month. Did the same thing you did, never called them once. When I finally cancelled after two years, I realized I could have bought a brand new fridge with that money instead of paying for a piece of paper. At least you got out after a year. My dumb self let it go on way too long because I kept thinking maybe next month something would break. Lesson learned though. Now I just put that $50 into a savings account for repairs instead.
